Flipkart says no to single-use plastic in their supply chain

Single-use plastic is gaining clout all over the globe due to its adverse effects on the environment. Keeping this thought in mind, Flipkart eliminated the use of single-use plastic from its supply chain.

Use of papers –

To fulfill the criteria of adopting a sustainable environment, Flipkart decides to use eco-friendly papers and recycled paper bags instead of a plastic pouch, unwanted shredded material as the bubble wrap substitute, and much more.

Additionally, Flipkart is encouraging its seller partners to look for an alternative material for single-use plastic. The E-commerce company claims that they have reduced the use of single-use plastic by 27%.

Flipkart further added that the new policies are fully compliant concerning EPR (extended producer responsibility). Also, the connections of Flipkart have successfully recycled the single-use plastic reaching to the customers.

The owner of company Flipkart, Walmart, is looking for other initiatives to improve the current situation regarding single-use plastic. They have replaced single-use plastic completely.

The Flipkart Senior Vice President and Head of the supply chain added, “At Flipkart, we place great emphasis on sustainable and responsible business practices. Moving towards 100 percent single-use plastic elimination is one of the significant steps we have taken towards fulfilling our commitment to creating a sustainable ecosystem.

The company firmly believes that the single-use plastic revolution was successful only due to the effects of Covid-19 in the nation.

Hemant Badri, the head of the supply chain at Flipkart further added, “ we now focused on enabling our seller ecosystem to adopt sustainable packaging alternatives as well, and to create positive environmental and social impact across the entire supply chain.”

What makes Flipkart refuse the use of single-use plastic?

Flipkart, one of the leading E-commerce websites, took the countable step to save the environment by eliminating single-use plastic in their packaging. Ditching single-use plastic is undoubtedly the masterstroke for a better future. one must appreciate their efforts and should include such things in their lives.

There can be so many reasons for Flipkart taking the move, but do you know that last year, Flipkart, along with Amazon, was fined for using excessive plastic for packaging?

Maybe, the E-commerce website learned from their past mistakes and wants to take a step forwards towards a sustainable environment and worthy future without single-use plastic.
